The popularity of the Japan's 47 Prefecture Coin Series, issued from 2008 - 2016 were the Japan Mint’s most successful Series Coin Program ever.
The Ministry of Finance (MOF), Japan plans to issue coins to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the National Park System, with designs of 34 National Parks, the series will run from 2024 through 2031 (about five parks per year). The 34 National Parks of Japan are outstanding natural scenic spots and serve as the foundation for the conservation of biological diversity. All 34 National Park Commemorative Silver Coins will be minted by Japan Mint.
For the First Half series, MOF has decided to issue 3-piece 1 oz 2024 Silver Proof 1,000-yen color coins, worldwide mintage: 40,000 pieces per design, max. allocation outside Japan: 3,989 pieces.
2024 Obverse Designs:
The Iriomote-Ishigaki National Park: Scenic spot of Ishigaki island "Kabila Bay" and endemic species of Iriomote Island "Iriomote Wild Cat"
The Keramashoto National Park - Coral Reef in the "Kerama Blue" Sea and "Green Turtle".
The Yanbaru National Park - Hiji Great Falls" which has a drop of about 26 meters, and endemic species of Yanbaru region "Okinawa Rail".
2024 - 2031 Common Reverse Design:
The design features the National Parks Unified Logo, 100th National Park System and issued year in Japanese and Face Value.
