In 2021, Monnaie de Paris is joining forces with Dior to pay tribute to the floral scent and the beauty of the bottle of the first-born fragrance created by Christian Dior: Miss Dior. Monnaie de Paris collaborates with a French house and creates, every year, a unique series inspired by two traditions of fine French craftsmanship. A prestigious alliance that pays tribute to the know-how of the oldest French institution as well as to the floral trail and the beauty of the bottle of the first-born fragrance created by Christian Dior.
Using the design of the 2kg gold coin on the obverse and reverse, but this time on a round shape, the 1kg gold coin only has 18 copies minted. This exceptional coin pays tribute to Dior’s famous symbols: the houndstooth, the roses, the couture bow. Here again, transparency was beautifully conveyed into metal through the use of engraving, polishing and sandblasting to obtain larger than life textures.
While the drawing of the bottle on a bed of roses glimpsed through a star-shaped window remains the same on the obverse as for the 2kg gold coin, the 1kg gold coin’s reverse is specific. Here, thanks to a technical innovation, the bow, an ornament Christian Dior frequently used, struk in pink gold, perfectly rounded, creates the illusion of a supple fabric with a regular grain, sealed on the obverse of the coin.
