The People’s Bank of China has issued the Ancient Chinese Famous Painting Series (Qian Li Jiang Shan Tu)” Gold and Silver Commemorative Coins

“Qian Li Jiang Shan Tu”, or “A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains”, the scroll is approximately twelve meters long, and is the only surviving work of its painter, Wang XiMeng of the Song Dynasty in the 12th century. The painting deployed scarce mineral pigments with bright colors, to depict the peaceful and prosperous country.

This “national treasure” painting is now kept in the Palace Museum in Beijing, and has only been shown to the public four times till present.

All round coins bear common obverse design, featuring the title of PRC, year da
te and the “Chinese four treasures” for study, namely Chinese writing brushes, ink, paper and inkstone.

Reverse Designs: 

Coin 1: Green mountains and clear waters, a most pleasant scene of the Nature.

Coin 2: A portrait of the countryside with scattered farm houses among the hills.

Coin 3: The only waterfall in the painting. The small pavilion in the waterfalls presents a nice integration of the Nature and mankind.
