The China Mint has decided to celebrate - with legal tender silver coins - the 50th anniversary of their establishment of diplomatic relations with France. The People’s Republic of China and France officially joined forces on January 27, 1964. To acknowledge this anniversary, The China Mint has created a set of coins that feature recognizable monuments of both China & France, including the Forbidden City, the French Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, & the Temple of Heaven. Also featured are animals representative for each country - a traditional Dragon for China, and a Gallic rooster for France. The “50 Anniversary” logo is prominently featured on the silver designs, as is the years “1964-2014” . The coins come with a box and certificate, and are available in very limited quantities. The China-France 50th Anniversary coins have the lowest mintage of any modern China coin issue for comparable sets in recent years.
