To commemorate the hosting of the Equestrian Program of the XXIX Olympiad in Hong Kong and with the authorization of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Organizing Committee, China Gold Coin Inc. issues "The Commemorative Gold & Silver Medals and Plates for the Equestrian Program of the XXIX Olympiad".
The obverse features the following on each coin: The event of Jumping and Hong Kong International Airport; the event of Dressage and Tsing Ma Bridge; and finally the event of Eventing and Hong Kong Harbor view. Each coin also features the design of beauhinia and the official Olympic pictogram of the Equestrian sport.
The common reverse depicts the emblems of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the words "In commemoration of the Equestrian Program of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad" in Chinese characters, the the year of issuance.
Each silver medal contains 1-ounce of 99.9% fine silver, is 40mm in diameter and comes in a box with a certificate. The total mintage is 20,008 sets. Only 10,004 sets will be sold outside China.
